Taipei Hakka Yimin Festival 2018

The 2018 Taipei Hakka Yimin Festival – October 13 – 15, 2018

The Taipei Hakka Yimin Festival is one of the most significant annual events of the Hakka people in Taipei. This year, the festival will take place between October 13th and 15th as a three day event at the Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park.

There are a series of activities and performances to be held at the festival to present the traditional culture of the Hakka. The festival will be paying respects to the Yimin spirit, including the Holy Incense Parade. There will be a carrying-pole parade, a Hakka opera, grand evening shows, worship ceremonies and a Hakka Market.

There with three major themes: celebrations, parades and art events. The festival aims to recreate the Hakka spirit in a simple yet stylish fashion to showcase Hakka values in order to bring a cultural diversity of Taipei to the locals and its international visitors.

The Yimin temples across Taiwan are also expected to join this grand annual event.

Taipei Jazz Festival 2018

The 2018 Taipei Jazz Festival – September 1 – October 31, 2018

The Taipei Jazz Festival has become a platform for jazz musicians to all come together and perform in Taipei.

All the events span across September and October, and are absolutely free to attend. These events include a series of talks, workshops, concerts, and a large outdoor concert which will be held at Da’an Forest Park.

Jazz Rookie Show at the Zhongshan MRT Station

The Jazz Rookie Show: 08/09/2018 – 09/09/2018

The Taipei Jazz Festival of 2018 will host the Jazz Rookie Show at the Jazz Square, located at the back of the Zhongshan MRT Station. There will be summer jazz dance performances that’ll span across two days which consists of six ammature jazz players from Taiwan. From 12pm onwards, there will be a Jazz Dance SWING DANCE master performance involving live jazz rookie music.

Also alongside these performances, there will be a Wenchuang Market. All these performances at the Jazz Square are free to attend.

The Night Scene performances at the Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park

Tianmu Loyalty Park: On 20/10/2018

These events will host three big groups of jazz band performances at the Tianmu Park.

The park echoes the theme of the 2017 performance called, Walling in the City, which presents Taipei as a city of jazz fusion. This year’s theme is called “The Night of the Night” which presents a new generation of jazz.

Da’an Forest Park: 26/10/2018 – 28/10/2018

Many of the best musicians from all over the Taiwan have taken interest into the development of jazz music. They also attract many other national musicians to Taipei because of their convenient transportation and the excellence of Taiwanese musicians coming together.

The Da’an stage will invite jazz musicians from more than 8 countries in the world. A total of 12 performance groups will perform on the Da’an Stage.

The Taipei Arts Festival 2018 begins this August for local artists to come together and showcase their innovations to inspire others by their creativity.

Registration Venue: Wildlife Conservation Market Service Counter (the first tent on the left side of the main stage).

Taipei Zoo will remain open on Saturday evenings until 2100.

Night Tickets: NT$30.

Time Available: 1600 – 2000 (EasyCard accepted).

Admission Direction: Visitors will need to enter from the Main Gate Plaza after 1600 as the Taipei Zoo South Station of the Maokong Gondola will remain closed during night hours. Therefore, the onsite ticket booth will stop selling tickets at 1600.

Education Center and Zoo Train: Free from 1630 onwards.

The 2018 Taipei Water Festival

The Taipei Water Festival 2018 promises to be one of the events for those seeking to beat the blazing summer holiday heat.

The public is invited to take part in the opening event of the festival, organized by the Taipei Water Department, with the collaboration of National Taxation Bureau.

In addition to the standard facilities at the Taipei Water Park, the organizers have also constructed a sprinkler corridor at the Fountain Garden Plaza. As a result, there will be a variety of water-spraying devices in the area, kids will be able to enjoy watery fun without needing to visit the pool. At the same time, a display featuring water pipes, swim rings, and animals has been installed next to the Fountain Garden Plaza as well, offering visitors a place to take their selfies.
