January 22, Saturday, is marked as a make-up workday for the Lunar New Year vacation (also known as Chinese New Year). This holiday starts on January 31 and runs through to February 5, 2022.
This is because the government decided that the Saturday of January 22nd is a make-up working day due to having Friday, February 5th as a public holiday in the Lunar New Year vacation.
Make-up working days compensate for certain public holidays that land on a weekday during the year in Taiwan. Therefore, most businesses and schools will have regular working hours on a make-up day.
🗓️ As for 2022, this is the only make-up day of the year.
