Aaron MacalisterParticipantLet’s make a hypothetical: You can apply for Permanent Residence in February 2022.
You have a solid amount of money saved. On November 1st 2021 you leave your job and apply for a six month ARC extension.
Can you still apply for a Taiwan Permanent Residence? Or is employment a necessary component?

It’s income or asset based for part of a tax year. Not employment based. It’s the same rule for citizenship and I used the asset based for that. Of course you can always go to the NIA and ask. They are very helpful.

The income part I’ve already satisfied for 2021. I fell short by about 30-35k TWD in 2020.

Ray PfeilerParticipantImmigration office have confirmed me that you can’t apply for the aprc while being on a 6 months extension.
Calling them is the best thing you can do.
