Hi all, as you must surely know, a new law -officially, the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professional Talent (外國專業人才延攬及僱用法)- has been passed recently by the Legislative Yuan.

Among other things, Focus Taiwan reports that “Under the revised Act, an Employment Gold Card that includes a work permit, residence visa, alien residency permit and re-entry permit will be introduced for foreign professionals.

The “four-in-one card” makes it easier for foreign nationals to change jobs in Taiwan because they will no longer be dependent on their employer to apply for a work permit.”

Below, you can find the link to the final version of the law, but since it’s only available in Chinese, I wanted to ask if anybody here knows when will it become effective and what exactly will the procedure be to apply for a work permit without being sponsored by an employer. Also, are all foreign nationals eligible to the new benefits created by law?
