Taipei Expats™ are constantly publishing and updating a good range of Taipei guides and articles which offer valuable information and helpful tips for all expats living, travelling, studying or working overseas. The Taipei guides and articles are nestled under the Taipei Services main menu.

Taipei Expats currently offer a decent range of easily to read and follow Taipei guides and articles.
These guides are clearly laid out in their defined categories with their respective tag labels for user-friendliness. They cover topics that help expats adapt to living and working in Taipei, as well as for those who wish to get the best out of visiting the city as a tourist.

Uploading your own Taipei Blogs & Articles
Taipei Expats™ offers a blogging platform for all members and visitors to benefit from, however, only members can upload their blogs to the Taipei Expats™ blogs section after verification.
Members need to be logged into their account in order to upload their blog to the site. The option to submit your blog can be found within the sub-menu of the Expat Blogs, in the Taipei Community main menu.
Members are welcome to upload their Taipei blogs to the site, but they must include a title, a featured image, images, tags, and a category.

News and Notifications
Receiving notifications automatically by email
You can set your email notification features when you subscribe to Taipei Expats™.
Depending on how you’ve customized your subscription settings, you’ll be able to receive our automatic notifications based on your interests directly to your subscribed email address. These notifications can range from government alerts affecting your local area to the latest release of the Taiwan Receipt Lottery numbers.

Enabling warnings & alerts to be sent as a text message
Unfortunately, not yet, but this is a feature we’re currently working on for expats that are not receiving any government alerts for such events of an earthquake or a landslide happening in their current location. In the meantime, we suggest that you download the official Taiwan Weather App and activate their push alert notifications.
The Taiwan Weather App is directly supplied by the Taiwanese government’s Central Weather Bureau.
The Taiwan Weather App for Android (English) offers a practical way for foreign residents and visitors to receive the latest weather information for Taiwan.
Expat News for Taiwan
Taipei Expats™ now cover the latest Taiwan expat news headlines in English on what matters for foreigners visiting or living on the island.
It is located in the Notifications menu, nestled within the Expat Services main menu. You can view the latest expat headlines on what’s happening for Taiwan in English at the Expat news for Taiwan page.

Our weather forecasting services are dedicated for the Taipei area. It is located in the Notifications menu, nestled within the Expat Services main menu. We source the latest of our accurate weather data from the Open Weather Map Organisation.
The forecasting data can span from up to 13 days, as well as hourly and daily. The forecast data presents temperature, wind, pressure and precipitation, all of which is available to be presented in charts and on a map. We are now able to offer additional information, showing cloudiness, pressure, humidity, sunrise, sunset and geo-coordinates.

The notifications can be found within the Expat Services main menu. This expat service nestles the Taipei news and weather notifications, along with the warning and alert notifications as a sub-menu. Please note that you can find the latest Taipei feeds there.

Warnings & Alerts
The warnings and alert services are located in the Notifications menu, in the Expat Services main menu. This section acts as the ‘main hub’ for displaying all the latest notifications, alerts & advisories that cover across the northern Taiwan area: Keelung City, Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County.
This expat service nestles the typhoon & dangerous storm warnings and earthquake & tsunami warnings, along with the droughts, floods, contamination & disruption warnings as a sub-menu.
The typhoon & dangerous storm warnings enables users to receive alerts and typhoon weather warnings from our online notifications services. We provide a government-distributed warning and alert service to the public and our subscribers about severe and hazardous weather which has the potential to cause danger to life or widespread disruption in the northern Taiwan area.
The earthquake & tsunami warnings enables users to be notified on our instant earthquake report services which receives the government’s latest notifications when natural events happen. Our reports record the current activity in the northern area of Taiwan with real-time government alerts and announcements. This includes a comprehensive damage impact by natural disasters report from the local and government readings.
The droughts, floods, contamination & disruption warnings enables users to be notified by our distributed warning services on a broad range of issues. Issued alerts consist of droughts, floods, contaminations, disease outbreaks, cholera, solar flares, significant transport disruptions, terrorist events and other man-made / natural disasters.

Festivals and Events
The Taipei Event Calendar
Taipei Expats™ provides an event calendar for those who wish to explore the many things that are happening today, along with upcoming events & festivals throughout the year in Taipei. The Taipei event calendar is located in the Notifications menu, nestled within the Expat Services main menu.
Our Taipei calendar professionally displays a full range of festivals and events, such as the Dragon Boat festival to local family-friendly children’s events. Select through the color-defined categories to easily find the type of event you are searching for.
We are now accepting publicly certified events to be hosted on to the Taipei event calendar after verification.

Being notified on upcoming events in Taipei
You can set your email notification features when you subscribe to Taipei Expats.
Depending on how you’ve customized your subscription settings, you’ll be able to receive notifications on upcoming events that are happening around you locally, or generally in and around Taipei. These notifications can be set to be based on your interests, and sent directly to your subscribed email address. This includes the option to be notified on the particular category of the Taipei event that you are interested in.

Creating your own events for the Taipei Calendar
You are now able to create events and activities to be uploaded to the Taipei Event Calendar. For them to be successfully uploaded to the Taipei calendar, the events must be an official public event.
All upload requested events will go through verification as an official public event before they can be uploaded to the Taipei calendar.
Holidays in Taiwan
The calendar now additionally displays all the national and observed holidays that take place each year in Taiwan. This feature currently provides the holidays from 2016 to 2019.
Useful Apps and Sites
We now provide a full range of useful applications for expats living in or around Taipei, Taiwan. All provided applications are presented by their operating system capabilities. Taipei Expats™ currently only support the applications running on Apple, Android and Windows. To help you search and find what you are looking for, all the apps have been sorted in categories of Useful, Transport, City Services and Entertainment.
Downloading apps straight to your device
You are able to download the useful expat apps straight to your smartphone, or any mobile devices for that matter, as long as your device operating system runs on Apple IOS, Android or Windows.
Once you’ve selected the app, go to your required app store in the download options in order to download the application to your device’s personal account. You would need to to synchronise your device to the app store you downloaded the application from.
We have made some additional changes to the services to now include useful expat websites for those that either don’t have access to a smartphone, or simply just prefer to access the services by their computer or laptop.
These services are offered lower down the page where each website link will open up a new browser window so you wont lose your page.
Advertising a Listing
Setting up a listing on the Taipei classifieds found on the front page of the website is completely free and easy to do. To set up a listing, you need to be logged into your registered account with us. You can do that by logging in, If you don’t have an account, you can simply register here.
Once you are logged into your account, select the particular classified category you want to list in, and use the classifieds option tabs as shown below to fill out the form and post your classified Ad.
Please ensure you read, understand and accept the site terms of service when placing your listing.
Buying or Contacting a Listing
Once you’ve found a particular listing that you like, click into it to find the direct contact details of the advertiser / seller. Alternatively, the Ad would link the user’s profile details of the Taipei Expats™ website, so you can also contact them directly about their Ad.
We are currently working on a direct Paypal service which will allow users to connect their listings to their Paypal accounts. This will allow users to create direct and secure transactions via Paypal when buying or selling an Ad on Taipei Expats™.
The Taipei Gallery
Taipei Expats™ provides a gallery for all visitors to enjoy images that show the beauty of Taipei. The Taipei gallery is organised in categories to help visitors find the right picture they are looking for.
Adding pictures to the Taipei gallery
Members need to be logged into their account in order to upload their pictures to the gallery. The option to submit your image(s) can be found within the gallery options.
Members are welcome to upload their Taipei image(s) to the site, but they must include a title, caption and a category.
