Database researchers (DBs) perform research across several different database platforms, while identifying and noting relevant, pertinent, or noteworthy information for the benefit of the writers and investigators whose work is almost entirely based on that research. Review and confirm or reject the findings of the litigation and preliminary research departments which have worked on a case prior to it being received by the DBs department.
Must be able to assist investigators, editors, and all other departments to clarify and explain any of the findings in a particular case; help locate contact information for possible interviewees and for subjects? former employers; obtain any additional information which fell outside of the parameters of the initial research; assist and guide investigators, editors and all other departments on their own research.
** Job Qualifications **
Education:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent required; degrees in journalism and research-heavy subjects such as library science preferred.
Experience:
Database research experience and a strong eye for detail required. 3-5 years of experience in a research-related position such as due diligence, know-your-customer/client onboarding, or investigative journalism required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
Knowledge of LexisNexis, Microsoft Office, and researching via Internet search engines required. Familiarity with compiling Boolean search strings and with utilizing other online databases, such as Factiva, also preferred.
